Check out the displayed error codes on the indoor unit air conditioner. When your indoor unit indicator blinks, check the code type first. In most cases, it is not a product defect. However, some cases may require an authorized repair person for further service. Check the cases and instructions below. Frequently Displayed Error Codes on the Indoor Unit

Displayed Error Codes: CF

• Cause: Filter cleaning reminder / Filter reset indicator
• Solution: Clean or replace the inner filters of the indoor unit.

Displayed Error Codes: Cl

• Cause: Auto clean indicator (Indoor unit produces odors)
• Solution: Operate the Auto clean function to remove the odors.

Displayed Error Codes: dF

• Cause: Automatic Defrost function (During Defrost, steam is produced on the outdoor unit)
• Solution: This is not a manufacturing defect. When the Heat mode is off, this function will be turned off.

Displayed Error Codes: 4E (4C)

• Cause: The 4E (4C) error code indicates a problem with the water supply. The most common reason is a blocked or kinked water supply hose.
• Solution:
  • Check the water hose
  • Check the water supply
  • Clean the water hose mesh filter
  • Clean the dispenser drawer

Guide for Indicators

CF Function

When the inside air filter has too much dust, your air conditioner is unable to draw in a sufficient amount of air. This may cause issues with temperature and noise. We recommend cleaning the filter every 2 weeks or when the CF display code appears on the indoor unit display. (The CF display code means filter-cleaning reminder.)

Please check your air conditioner model below and follow the guide to clean the air filter. This will give you cool and fresh air.

dF (Defrost Function)

When the Defrost function is on, the df indicator appears on the indoor unit display, and steam is produced on the outdoor unit. The air conditioner stops running to prevent cold air from coming out of the indoor unit.

Automatic Defrost

When the outdoor temperature is low and the humidity is high, frost may develop on the outdoor heat exchanger, decreasing heating efficiency. When these conditions are met while Heat mode is on, the air conditioner runs the Defrost function for 5 to 12 minutes to remove frost from the outdoor heat exchanger.

Error Codes Requiring Authorized Service

When the air conditioner displays the E1 code on the display panel and won’t turn on, it means the room thermistor (a device connected to the thermostat that detects the room temperature) is shorted or defective. Most of these cases need to be handled by an authorized repair person. Please contact the nearest Samsung service center.

Displayed Error Codes: E1 or 21

• Cause: Defective room temperature sensor
• Solution: Contact authorized Samsung service center.

Displayed Error Codes: E1 or 22

• Cause: Defective heat exchanger temperature sensor
• Solution: Contact authorized Samsung service center.

Displayed Error Codes: E1 or 54

• Cause: Defective fan motor or capacitor
• Solution: Contact authorized Samsung service center.

Displayed Error Codes: E1 or 63

• Cause: Defective EEPROM
• Solution: Contact authorized Samsung service center.

Displayed Error Codes: E5

• Cause: Short of indoor heat exchanger sensor / Indoor heat exchanger sensor open
• Solution: Check the exchanger sensor departure of the indoor unit. (Sensor replacement may be needed)

Displayed Error Codes: E6

• Cause: Short of the outdoor heat exchanger sensor / Outdoor heat exchanger sensor open
• Solution: Check the exchanger sensor departure of the outdoor unit. (Sensor replacement may be needed)

Displayed Error Codes: E7

• Cause: Short of the heater temperature sensor / Heater temperature sensor open
• Solution: Check the heater temperature sensor departure. (Sensor replacement may be needed)

Note: If the indoor unit indicator blinks, write down the error code and contact your service provider. It is helpful to provide them with the error code.
